And then comes this surprising idea: stick plastic forks into the ground, points upward, around the most delicate plants.

The principle is very simple, and that is precisely why it is so effective. The upward-pointing spines form a small physical barrier. Unwanted visitors moving close to the ground hesitate to pass this barrier. The result: lettuce, strawberries, and seedlings are less accessible.

It is a bit like having a small protective hedge around every plant. It is not a miracle cure, but it can significantly reduce damage, especially in small spaces such as raised planters or balcony boxes.
